This is the person who oversees your reception from beginning to end. If you are happy with the service you received, this is the person to tip. Use your best judgement, but you usually want to figure 15-20%. If you are paying a service charge, they won't be expecting anything.
Bartenders
Check for a service charge on the liquor bill. If there is none, you may want to leave 10% of the total bill for the bartenders.
Coat-Room and Restroom Attendants
If a gratuity is not factored into your bill consider giving them between .50 cents to $1 per guest.
Hair Stylists and Makeup Artists
You should tip hair stylists and makeup artists just as you would in a salon. 15-20% is customary.
Check to see if a tip is included in your bill. If not, figure about 15%-20% of the total.
Musicians
This is an optional tip. You may want to give them $20-$25 each.
Photographers
This is an optional tip. Most photographers will not expect a tip. If the photographer is a subcontractor or freelance a monetary "thank you" is always graciously received. Usually around $20-$25.
Servers
If there is a service charge included in the total of your bill, it is not necessary to give an additional tip to each individual server.
If a service charge is not included, figure the tip according to the number of servers. Decide on a dollar amount for each server and multiple it by the number of servers. Give the money directly to the Banquet Manager to distribute to each server.
Wedding Consultants
Consultants work for a set fee. Most do not expect a tip. If you would like to give them an extra "thank you," send a nice note with money or a gift after the wedding.
