Sutton police: Alleged I-89 shooter captured Monday morning

November 20. 2017 8:56AM

SUTTON — Police said they have arrested a man following a manhunt that prompted the closing of all Kearsarge Regional School District schools for the day and a warning for residents to keep their doors and vehicles locked.

At 8 a.m. Monday, police reported that Elijah Gross, 40, was in custody. Police reported his capture on their Facebook page.

On Sunday, authorities said they believed Gross fired a gun at his girlfriend's car as it traveled north on Interstate 89 near Exit 10.

Gross was allegedly a passenger in another car when he fired the gun about 5:35 p.m. Sunday, state police said.

According to the Kearsarge Regional School District website, all schools were closed Monday.
