WESTMORELAND — State police say a New Ipswich woman was medflighted with life-threatening injuries after her vehicle was hit head-on by an alleged drunk driver Sunday afternoon in Westmoreland.
According to State Police Sgt. Steven Wheeler, around 12:31 p.m. Sunday troopers responded to reports of a crash involving several motor vehicles on Route 12, just north of Capron Road, in Westmoreland.
State police report a purple 1998 Jaguar XK8, driven by Matthew Dunn, 28 of Raymond, was traveling northbound on Route 12 and attempting to overtake several vehicles in a no passing zone as a silver 2012 Kia Soul, driven by Ellen J. Corbett, 56, of New Ipswich, was traveling south on Route 12.
According to state police, the purple Jaguar XK8 hit the silver Kia Soul head-on in the southbound travel lane. The Kia Soul was knocked into the northbound travel lane, where it hit a white 2010 Subaru Forester driven by Naomi L. Risch, 32, of Winooski, Vt.
Sgt. Wheeler said Corbett suffered life-threatening injuries and was medflighted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center from the Cheshire Medical Center. No update on her condition was available Sunday night.
A passenger in the Kia, identified as Meghan Coull, 32, of New Ipswich, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the Cheshire Medical Center. Risch was uninjured.
State police said Dunn suffered minor injuries and was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated. He was held Sunday night on $10,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. today at the Cheshire County Superior Court.
