WEARE — Fire officials in Weare say a single family home suffered extensive damage and two vehicles were destroyed in a two-alarm blaze on Dustin Tavern Road Sunday afternoon.

According to Weare Fire Chief Robert Vezina, firefighters were called to 447 Dustin Tavern Road in Weare at 3:09 p.m. Sunday on a report of a building fire. Fire Lt. Steve Barton was driving nearby and reported seeing a large column of smoke, said Vezina. He stopped and found two automobiles burning outside a house. The fire had spread to the home.

Within an hour firefighters had knocked down the bulk of the blaze.

The two automobiles were deemed a total loss, Vezina said, while the home sustained extensive damage.

Vezina said water needed to be brought to the scene by tankers from a source more than 2 miles away.

Firefighters from Goffstown, Henniker, Bow, New Boston, Francestown, Hillsborough, Hopkinton, Dunbarton, Deering, and Warner provided mutual aid.

Vezina said the fire appears to have started in one of the automobiles.

There were no injuries. The occupants of the home will be staying with family in the area, Vezina said.
