MEREDITH — A Campton man died Monday morning when his van skidded off Interstate 93 and hit a tree.

Robert Chamberlain, 46, died at the scene of the 6:10 a.m. crash, state police said in a news release.

“During this time frame, snow squalls were passing through the area north of Exit 22,” the news release states.

“This combined with cold temperatures, caused the roadway to become slippery. New Hampshire State Police were responding to numerous vehicles off the roadway in the New Hampton area around this time.”

State police said Chamberlain’s 2004 Chevrolet van was southbound near mile marker 67 when he slid off the right side of the highway and struck a large tree.

“Poor weather conditions combined with unreasonable speed appear to be contributing factors to this crash,” state police said in the news release.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Trooper First Class Eric Shirley at 271-3636.
