FRANCONIA — Fish and Game officials are reminding outdoor enthusiasts that the days are growing shorter after a lost hiker had to be rescued near the Falling Waters trail Friday night.
Marjorie Loder, 22, of Melrose, Mass., was hiking with her dog but lost the trail, according to Fish and Game. She kept hiking upwards in hopes of regaining the trail, but called for help about 4:45 p.m.
Volunteers from Plymouth State University assisted Fish and Game officers in locating the woman, and they got back to the trailhead at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
In a news release, Fish and Game reminded hikers that they need to allow sufficient time to complete hikes in daylight, and hike with appropriate gear.
