Origin:
This town is New Hampshire's youngest, incorporated in 1962. After considerable litigation, it was carved out of Lisbon to be an independent voting unit. The name Sugar Hill comes from a large grove of sugar maples in the hills.

More about Sugar Hill:
Every year, Sugar Hill participates in the Fields of Lupine Festival, a regional event celebrating the blossoming of the spring wildflower which blooms in abundance in the region. Other towns that partake include Bethlehem, Easton, Franconia, Twin Mountain and Bretton Woods. The area is carpeted with color for several weeks each June.
