Origin:
Once a part of Nottingham, Massachusetts, the town was separated in 1741, and named Nottingham West. Owing to confusion with the town of Nottingham in the north, voters petitioned to have the town renamed in 1830. The name Hudson was chosen because of its position near the Merrimack River, once supposed to flow east from the Hudson River, creating the boundary line between Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
More about Hudson:
No longer considered a bedroom community to Nashua, Hudson is on the east bank of the Merrimack River. It has developed into a thriving industrial and commercial center in its own right thanks in part to its enviable proximity to critical highways.
