Mandy Moore - Moore than a Singer
Mandy Moore

Amanda Leigh "Mandy" Moore was born in Nashua on April 10, 1984. She moved to Orlando, Florida at the age of two months and she continues to reside there with her family. Moore is best known as one of the teen pop music divas but has added acting to her resume, appearing in several feature films.

Moore discovered her love of singing at the age of nine after attending a summer music camp. She became known in Orlando as the "National Anthem Girl," singing the Star Spangled Banner at many high profile sporting events. Her career took off after the release of her first album So Real, followed by tours with N-Sync and the Backstreet Boys. After a second album, I Wanna Be with You went Platinum, Mandy decided it was time to take the reigns of her singing career.

She released a self-titled album to critical acclaim in 2001. A third album, Coverage, a compilation of cover songs, was released in 2003, followed by a "Best of" album in 2004. But Moore is not just a pop music diva, she's an actress. Moore began taking on small roles at first and finally landed a lead role in an adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, A Walk to Remember. She has also appeared in The Princess Diaries, How to Deal, Chasing Liberty and Saved with Mary Louise Parker and Macaulay Culkin. In 2006, she filmed a musical film called Romance and Cigarettes, with James Gandolfini and Kate Winslet and American Dreamz which became a huge hit. Her most recent films include Dedication with Harvey Keitel, and the sci-fi film Southland Tales, in which she co-starred with Sarah Michelle Gellar and "The Rock."

Moore is the fresh face of Neutrogena and has also been a spokesperson for Coach Handbags. In addition, she has launched a vintage inspired tee shirt line called Mblem. Each tee features her favorite lyrics from the 60's, 70's and 80's. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each shirt benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which is dedicated to finding a cure for the deadly diseases. The line branched out into contemporary knitwear and cashmere and was sold in boutiques and major department stores across the country. In early 2009, Moore announced that the clothing line would be shut down.

A Greatest Hits CD was released on November 16, 2004. In 2007, Moore released Because I Said So with Diane Keaton and License to Wed, in which she co-starred with John Krasinski. Robin Williams also played a major role in the film. She also released a new studio album, Wild Hope, in 2007. Her sixth studio album, Amanda Leigh, will be released on May 26, 2009.

Moore reportedly married alt-country singer Ryan Adams on March 10, 2009 after an on-again, off-again relationship.
