Kancamagus Highway

Lincoln - Conway, NH

Stretching from the Pemigewasset River at Lincoln 34-1/2 miles to the town of Conway, this scenic byway climbs to nearly 3,000 feet as it crosses the flank of Mount Kancamagus, featuring many scenic vistas and campgrounds. The original route was started in 1837, but it wasn't until 1959 that is was opened and paving completed in 1964. Since 1968, the road has been opened year round except in the most dangerous winter weather. It was dedicated as a National Scenic Byway in 1989.

There are numerous day hikes accessible from the highway, including a hike to the breathtaking Sabbaday Falls that can be done in less than an hour.
