  Welcome to NewHampshire.com Communities

To add a post to your blog, follow the easy steps below.

Thanks for participating in New Hampshire's online community.

This can be done through many links on our site. The easiest place to find a link is in the big, green Blogs box on our homepage. Or, click here.

Enter Username and Password
After entering your Username and Password, you will be brought to the Your Neighborhood News page. In a gray strip near the top of the page, you should see your Username in red. Click on your Username.

The main area of this next page allows you to customize your blog to work in a way that's best for you. If you understand all these options, and are technically inclined, congratulations and customize away! Most people (including this author) have no idea what half this stuff is for. Feel free to ignore these options and focus your attention on the red strip on the right side of the page.

My Blogs
To add a post to your Blog, look at the My Blogs box and click on the name of your Blog. If you have not started a Blog, click Create a New Blog. A user can have more than one Blog, but if you're new to blogging, we suggest you stick with one.

Write a Blog Post
After clicking on the name of your Blog, you will be brought to a page that contains all of your past Blog posts, sorted from newest to oldest. Or, if you've never posted to your Blog before, you'll just see the name of your Blog at the top of the page. To add a post, look in the Common Tasks box in the red strip on the right and click on Write a Blog Post.

Start Blogging
Now you can begin your entry. Give your post a title in the Title bar. Then, begin writing in the Body field below. You can make changes to the text, such as font and color, using the tools in the space above the Body field, just like you do in a Microsoft Word document.

Post an Image within your Blog
To post an image within your Blog, click on the little tree in the tool area. A new box will pop up. The image you post must be an image that is already living somewhere on the World Wide Web. It can be from a Web site, or from your own Photo Gallery on NewHampshire.com. When you've found the picture you want to use, copy the URL (web address) from the browser's window, and paste it in the Image URL field. Pay attention to where your cursor is placed in the Body of your Blog, because that will dictate where your image is placed in your text.

Tag Your Blog
People can find your Blog under the City or Town you initially registered under. They can also find your Blog by searching the site for topics you have written about. In the Tags field at the bottom of the Write a Blog Post page, write words that reflect the content of your post. If your post is about your family's Christmas, write Christmas. If it's about a local sports team, write the name of the team. Use as many tags as you like, and separate them with commas or semi-colons. You can also choose from a list of tags by clicking on the Select Tags box on to the right of the field.

Publish Your Blog Post
Clicking Publish will post your Blog entry on the World Wide Web for all to see. Before taking this step, click the Preview tab at the top of the page to make sure the post looks the way you intended. It's always a good idea to read it through for any spelling or grammar errors too. (You don't want your high school English teacher finding errors in your blog!)

To add a photo to your gallery, follow the easy steps below.

Login and Find Your Gallery
Follow Login instructions outlined above. After you've clicked on your user name in the gray bar near the top of the page, scroll down until you see a Photo Gallery with the name of your Gallery. Click on it, then scroll to the bottom of the next page, and click Add a Picture.

Upload Your Photo
Photos can be no larger than 600 pixels wide or about 72 dots per inch. If you have Adobe Photoshop, or similar program, open the picture and Save for Web.

Describe and Tag Your Photo
After you've uploaded the photo, you will be prompted to fill in a friendly description. This will appear as a title above the photo. You may also write a longer description in the Description Area, which will appear below the photo.
Tag your photo with the name of your town, and any other relevant words. For example, a story about a fire at the nursing home in Goffstown should be tagged: Goffstown; fire; Hillsborough County Nursing Home. This way, people can search the site with these words and find the photo.

Preview and Publish Your Photo
Click the Preview tab at the top of the page. If you like what you see, hit Save.
