Name and date established: Stratford 1965

Description: The dramatic process of conveying lumber logs and pulpwood from northern New Hampshire forest to manufacturing centers, by driving them down the Connecticut River, spanned the turn into the 20th century. Hardy crews of "Whitewater men" risked life and limb in the hazardous work on the annual spring drives.

Location: Located on the west side of Route 3, about 1.7 miles south of the center of North Stratford.
