4th of July Celebrations and Fireworks

It's the way we celebrate Independence Day. Boom, pop, crackle. Ooohs. Aaahs. Here is where you will find the fireworks displays taking place across the state on and around the 4th of July, 2009!

Hooksett Fireworks, Hooksett, NH

Special Events

Bretton Woods - A Salute to Freedom! - - Mount Washington Hotel and Resort. This special weekend will salute the American soldiers from every American war from the American Revolution through to current. Enjoy demonstrations from the Dragoons and the United Train of Artillery, storytelling, dance lessons, BBQ, family activities, lectures, beverage tasting and musical performances, including a fife and drum band, and then participate in an American Celebration Dance featuring the Hal McIntyre Orchestra. Canterbury - "Let Freedom Ring" — A celebration of America. Poetry Slam. Music and Dance performances.

Gorham - A weekend-long celebration on the Town Common - Carnival Midway, Chili Chowder Cook Off, live music, children's interactive magic show, Bobo the Clown, parades, duck race, fireman's muster, a classic car parade, horseshoe tournament, and more!

Hopkinton: Third Annual Fourth of July Celebration at Houston Fields from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., after the parade! There will be food, games, raffles, contests, music, juggling demos, pony rides, and booths manned by various community groups. A variety of baked goods will be offered for sale at the Senior booth. Sodas and snacks will be sold at the concession stand. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.

Pittsburg - "Independence Celebration" — Murphy's Dam. Flea market, food, vendors, fishing derby, pony rides, games, chicken barbecue, music and fireworks.

Portsmouth - 12-5 p.m., Strawbery Banke - An American Celebration - A real old-fashioned fabulous 4th of July! Complete with children's parade, traditional games and crafts, historic garden tours, music, living history, food and fun for all.

Waterville Valley - "Independence Weekend Celebration and Fireworks" — Waterville Valley Resort. Parade, games, live music, dunk tank, and field day activities.

Friday, July 3

Alton Bay: 9:20 p.m., Alton Bay Bandstand, preceded by East Bay Jazz Concert performing Swing and Jazz favorites, 7-9pm. Rain date: July 11.
Amherst: 6 p.m., Souhegan High School, Amherst Town Band concert, hot air balloon rides, followed by fireworks
Ashland: 9:30 p.m., Ashland Ball Field. Pre-fireworks entertainment, 6-9 p.m.
Harrisville: 9 p.m., Island Cemetery
Jackson: 9 p.m., Wentworth Golf Course
Manchester: Please note: Fireworks have been postponed until Sunday, July 5. Dusk, Arms Park. The park opens to the public at 6:30pm. There will be no alcohol allowed. The eastbound expanse of the (Bridge Street) bridge will be closed to all traffic (pedestrian and motor vehicle) from 8am to the end of the event. The westbound expanse will be similarly closed at 10 a.m. Concert by the 39th Army Band starts at 7:30 p.m.
Pelham: dusk, behind the Pelham Memorial School on Marsh Rd.
Rochester: 9:30 p.m., Rochester Fairgrounds. Rain date: July 5. Fireworks preceded by live music by four bands from 4-9:30 p.m. Donations of non perishable items accepted at the gate to replenish food pantry.
Strafford: dusk, over the lake. Rain date: July 4.
Windham: 9:15 p.m., at Cobbetts Pond.

Saturday, July 4

Amherst: 10 a.m., parade and celebration, Town Green
Andover: Opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. Parade at noon. Flea market on Village Green next to Proctor Academy starting at 8 a.m. Music, pony pull, sports show, other activities. Fireworks at dusk.
Ashland: Pancake breakfast at Common Man patio, 7 a.m. Parade, 10 a.m., Main Street to West Street.
Bristol: Parade, 10 a.m., from Freudenberg-NOK to Central Square.
Brookline: 9:15 p.m., Lake Potanipo.
Center Harbor: Parade, 2 p.m. Chase Circle. Concert at bandstand at 7 p.m. Fireworks at dusk.
Colebrook: dusk, in the ball field. Rain date: Sunday, July 6. Day long community celebration starts at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, followed by a kid's fishing derby, 4th of July Parade and chicken barbecue.
Concord: dusk, Memorial Field. Rain date: July 5.
Derry: 9 p.m., best viewing areas are along Tsienneto Road, Hood Commons, Folsom Road, and Crystal Avenue. Rain date: July 5.
Durham: 5:30-9:30 p.m., Cowell Stadium. Fireworks Extravaganza, food, rides, music.
Gilmanton: 9:15 p.m., Crystal Lake Park; gates open at 6:30 with live band, food, games, and more. Parade at 10 a.m. at Gilmanton Corner. Flea market at Gilmanton Academy starting at 9 a.m.
Gorham: 10 p.m., Gorham Town Common
Greenville: Fireworks and Pots and Pans Parade, Town Field, 4 p.m. (parade at midnight).
Hampton Beach: 9:30 p.m., over the Atlantic
Jefferson: dusk, Waumbek Golf Course, Route 2. Kids games and food at 6 p.m. Rain or Shine.
Laconia: 9:30 p.m., downtown
Lebanon: 5-10 p.m., Colburn Park/Storrs Hill Ski Area. Fireworks, food, entertainment, and friends combine to make this an event not to be missed. PLUS Art Show and Sale! Rain Date: July 5
Lincoln/Woodstock: 10 a.m., Family events at Kancamagus Recreation Area; 2 p.m. Parade from Main Street in N. Woodstock down Main Street in Lincoln; 9:30 p.m. Fireworks
Meredith: dusk, Meredith Bay, Rubber Duckie Race at the Inns at Mill Falls, 4 p.m. Dixieland Band Concert at Hesky Park at 7 p.m.
Merrimack: Parade, 1 p.m., starts at Merrimack Commons, and then travels onto Baboosic Lake Road and ends at the high school. Fireworks, 9 p.m., Merrimack High School grounds.
Milford: All-day celebration and bon fire, Keyes Field, 12 p.m.
Moultonborough: Parade starts from Central School at 11 a.m. Historical Society Open House at Lamprey House at 10 a.m.
Nashua: 9 p.m., Holman Stadium
New Boston: Parade, High Street, at 10 a.m. All-day activities at New Boston's 4H Youth Center, 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m.; $5 admission price, kids under 12 are free. Fireworks on the 4H grounds at 9:15 p.m.
North Conway: 9:30 p.m., Schouler Park, preceded by theatrical and live musical performances, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Ossipee: Parade begins at Dorr's Corner Road at 10 a.m. Family Fun Fair, 11 a.m. 2 p.m., Food and music at Constitution Park, Long Sands Road, 5-11 p.m. Fireworks at dusk.
Pittsburg: dusk, Murphy Dam
Raymond: The annual Fourth of July parade is being held on Saturday, July 4 beginning at 9:30 a.m. The parade begins at the intersection of Route 27 and Epping St. and will travel down Epping Street. A Patriotic Celebration will begin at 11 a.m. on the town common. Free lunch and snacks will be offered as well as music, and childrens' activities, including three-legged races, arts and crafts, face painting, clowns and much more.
Rye: dusk, Parson's Field
Salem: Entertainment begins 4 p.m. at Salem High School , 44 Geremonty Dr. Fireworks begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. with a rain date of July 5 at 9:30 p.m.
Weirs Beach:, 12:01 a.m., Celebrate July 4th in Weirs Beach! The first July 4th fireworks show in the state kicks off at 12:01am on July 4th on the beach in Weirs Beach!
Wolfeboro: 9:30 p.m., over Wolfeboro Bay, Town Docks. Parade starts at 10 a.m. Concert at Cate Park 7 p.m.
Windham:, Annual July 4 Town Day celebration will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at Griffins Park on July 11.

Sunday, July 5

Peterborough: dusk, Conval High School
Barnstead: dusk, Camp Fatima
Manchester: (Postponed from July 3.) dusk, Arms Park. The park opens to the public at 6:30pm. There will be no alcohol allowed. Grafton: dusk, Grafton Recreation Field.
Chesterfield: 9 p.m., Spofford Lake. Parking available at the Wares Grove & North Shore Beaches. Rain Date: Sunday, July 12th.
