A New Hampshire lawyer won Monday night’s episode of the television quiz show ‘Jeopardy!’.

Eric Maher of Epping, an attorney with the New Hampshire law firm of Donahue, Tucker & Ciandella, defeated returning ‘Jeopardy!’ champion Kara Chandler Monday night despite trailing Chandler throughout the episode.

Maher and his two competitors correctly answered the “Final Jeopardy!” clue, “She declared, ‘By blood, I am Albanian…as to my calling, I belong to the world.’”

The correct answer — in the form of a question, of course — was, “Who is Mother Teresa (Saint Teresa of Calcutta)?”

Maher won the episode because he led Chandler by $1,100 going into the final round and wagered more than she. Massachusetts graduate student Alex Jumper placed third.

On Monday night Gov. Chris Sununu tweeted a congratulatory message out to Maher.

“Granite State congratulations to Eric Maher of Epping, NH, for winning @Jeopardy tonight! #603Pride,” tweeted Sununu.

Maher will be back on ‘Jeopardy!’ tonight when it airs on WBZ-TV 4 out of Boston at 7:30 p.m.
