Rochester police follow tracks in snow to New Durham man charged with leaving accident scene

December 13. 2017 3:22PM

Rochester police allege a New Durham man left footprints in fresh snow when he fled the scene of a one-car accident Tuesday.

According to a press release, police responding to a report of a crash on Rochester Hill Road near Profile Apartments found a 2006 Infinity G35 had struck a utility pole after the driver apparently lost control.

The driver was not at the scene, but an officer found footprints in the snow leading away from the crash and heading to Somersworth.

With help from Somersworth police, a man was tracked down and caught after a brief foot chase into what police described as “the swampy area between Whitehouse Road and Interstate Drive in Somersworth.”

John McGlone, 32, is charged with conduct after an accident, DWI, resisting arrest or detention, operating without a valid license and operating an unregistered vehicle.

McGlone's bail was set at $2,000 personal recognizance and $1,500 cash. Unable to make bail, he was brought to the Strafford County jail and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.

Anyone with information can call Officer Brittney Marvin at the Rochester Police Department, 330-7128.
