November 02. 2017 11:26AM

WEST LEBANON — Police arrested a Vermont man Tuesday after they said he showed up at a baseball field with his 2-year-old child in tow for what he thought would be a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old girl.

According to a release, police received an anonymous tip about a Craigslist ad that appeared to target younger and possibly underage children for sex. Police found the ad and communicated with James Taylor, 25, of Quechee, who they said placed the ad.

When Taylor arrived at the ballfield with his 2-year-old in the car for what he believed would be a sexual encounter, police arrested him on charges of attempted felonious sexual assault and certain uses of computer services prohibited, both Class B felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, for allegedly bringing his child along during the commission of a crime, police said.

Taylor’s bail was set at $20,000 cash and he was taken to the Grafton County jail pending arraignment Thursday in Grafton County Superior Court.

Taylor’s child was released to the child’s mother, police said.
