LEBANON — A 21-year-old local man was charged with driving while impaired by drugs and leaving the scene of an accident Thursday, according to Lebanon police.

Officers responded about 10:20 a.m. to Slayton Hill Road for a white utility van on its side in the woods. Police did not find the driver at the scene when they arrived.

Officer Tyler Hewes and his K9 partner Kymba began a search, tracking the driver’s scent through the woods and into an adjacent swampy area. They located Patrick S. Pruitt of 21 Bennet Court a short time later, police said.

He refused bail and was taken to Grafton County House of Corrections to await his court appearance.

Pruitt was scheduled to be arraigned Friday on the two misdemeanor charges.
