CAMPTON — A couple from South Weymouth, Mass., faces charges after a chase and arrest scene in Campton Friday night according to police officials.
Campton Police Chief Christopher Warn said police tried to stop John Cox, 45, for a motor vehicle violation on Pond Road at 9:15 p.m.
Cox refused to stop and fled into a single-family residence on Snow Wood Drive in neighboring Thornton.
Despite police pleas, Cox would not come out of the house. Police obtained warrants to enter the home and arrest him.
Cox was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, disobeying a police officer and resisting arrest.
His wife, Nicole Cox, 43, was charged with trying to hinder her husband’s arrest.
He was held at the Grafton County House of Corrections until he made the $1,000 cash bail.
Nicole Cox was released on personal recognizance, officials said.
Both will be arraigned on Sept. 10, Chief Warn said.
Woodstock and Thornton police assisted with this incident along with state police, officials added.
