KEENE — Police on Thursday arrested a California woman, accusing her of hitting a bicyclist with her rental car and leaving him injured on the side of the road.
A state trooper found the man with a head wound, lying in the grass near Park Avenue and Arch Street about 12:15 a.m., according to a police statement.
The man, who was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon for treatment, said the last thing he could remember was bicycling home from work. He did not recall how he was injured.
Debris near the scene indicated a car-on-bicycle crash and five hours later officers found a rental car with damage consistent with the collision.
The car was rented to Elizabeth Hunt, 29, of San Leandro, Calif. Officers located Hunt and arrested her on a felony charge of conduct after an accident.
She was taken to Cheshire County jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
Police ask anyone with information about the crash to call detective Donald Lundin at 357-9820.
