ROCHESTER — Police remained at the scene of a standoff at Amazon Park Thursday night, after a man barricaded himself in his mobile home.

Whitehouse Road and Quail Drive were shut down, and residents of the campground were evacuated. The incident started about 3 p.m.

The road shutdown was affecting the nearby First Student bus depot at 121 Whitehouse Road, with some drivers blocked from returning buses to the site.

Amazon Park was opened as a seasonal campground decades ago, but has become a year-round residence for indigent and homeless people, town officials have said.
