Man charged with drunk driving after hitting tree

PELHAM — Police say a Massachusetts man is facing drunk driving charges after hitting a tree with his car early Sunday in Pelham.

According to Pelham police, at 3:04 a.m. Sunday officers were dispatched to Bridge Street near Youngs Crossing Road to investigate a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival officers found a gray 2010 Honda Accord that had gone approximately 20 feet down an embankment and hit a tree.

According to police, two occupants of the Accord suffered minor injuries and declined medical attention.

According to police the driver of the vehicle, identified as Lwae Moo, 24, of Lowell, Mass., was traveling southbound on Bridge Street when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow covered road. According to police, Moo showed signs of alcohol impairment at the accident scene and was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving under the influence.

Moo will be arraigned in Salem District Court on March 5 at 8 a.m.

According to police, this was the fifth motor vehicle accident officers responded to during the overnight snow storm Saturday into Sunday.
