LONDONDERRY - Less than a year after laying off more than two dozen workers, a high-tech defense contracting company is looking to fill more than 150 openings at its Londonderry facility.

L3 Insight Technology, a division of L3 Warrior Sensor Systems, will hold a technology career fair from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at its headquarters at 9 Akira Way.

Hiring managers will met with prospective employees for direct hire - more than 50 such positions - and temporary positions across a dozen specialities. L3 officials say there are more than 100 manufacturing and 30 engineering positions open.

The managers may make some on-site offers.

"It's an exciting time to be at L3 Insight Technology. Based on the contract awards and orders we received in the second half of 2017, we are recruiting and hiring across the organization to support that growth and deliver the best products to our warfighters," said Carmen Pombeiro, vice president of human resources for L3 Insight Technology.

"We have close to 160 job openings at the moment. Those positions are across the entire organization, all disciplines and all levels."

L3's current workforce in New Hampshire includes 768 full-time and temporary employees.

News of the career fair comes after 32 employees were let go across three of the business's locations earlier this year, most at the Londonderry facility.

The company manages the size of its workforce to help maintain overall competitiveness and improve its ability to win and execute new business pursuits, according to communications manager Michele Dempsey. Based on the awards and orders received in the second half of the year, L3 can now recruit and hire to support that growth.

Its parent, L3 Warrior Sensor Systems, develops and produces advanced night vision and electro-optical technology and systems for the U.S. military, federal agencies, public safety and sporting communities.

A snow date for the job fair has been set for Dec. 14.
