NORTH CONWAY — The developers of Settlers Green Outlet Village recently completed the $14.1 million Settlers Streetside, an art-fused expansion that adds more shops and a restaurant.

The state’s first and northern-most outlet center, the original Settlers Green is on a 100-acre site on Route 16 that was the home of the White Mountain Airport. It opened in 1988.

The project was the brainchild of siblings Robert M. Barsamian and Lisa Green, who with partners developed Settlers Green and then expanded it to include Settlers Crossing, Settlers Corner and now Settlers Streetside.

The outlet village began with 89,000 square feet and three tenants: J. Crew, Eddie Bauer and Banana Republic. Today, the outlet village has more than 70 national brand-name stores over 300,000 square feet of space at Settlers Green, which includes Streetside, with another 200,000 square feet in development across the street at the Crossing and Corner.

Like many places in the Mount Washington Valley, the outlet village is a destination, said Dorothea “Dot” Seybold, the general manager of OVP Management Inc., which owns and operates Settlers Green.

“People expect to go shopping when they go to a shopping center,” said Seybold, but the people who come to Settlers Green “want an experience, not just a pair of shoes. If you’re traveling with your family, shopping is an experience. Why not give them something they weren’t expecting?”

Now open and with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for Oct. 10 at 12:30 p.m., Settlers Streetside features 10 new stores, a restaurant and a number of sculptures and paintings around the grounds.

Settlers Streetside will hold a Grand Opening during the week of Oct. 9-15 with a variety of events including live music, dancing, and fireworks. For a complete schedule visit
