American Independence Museum

One Governor's Lane
Exeter, NH 03833
Ph: 603-772-2622

Learn about New Hampshire's role in the American Revolution. This is where history really comes alive!

Hear stories from two centuries of the families, merchants, soldiers, slaves, servants, shipbuilders, political leaders, and sea captains who settled in Exeter due to its proximity to the Squamscott River and the Atlantic Ocean.

The Museum also hosts the American Independence Festival annually, an event that features over 100 costumed interpreters, an artisan village, and a reenactment of the day July 16, 1776 delivery of New Hampshire's Dunlap Broadside of the Declaration of Independence, with a reading, a costumed rider galloping, hecklers, and more.
