New Hampshire is one of the best places in the world to witness the brilliant crimsons and golds of fall. To help visitors decide when to take a tour of the countryside, NewHampshire.com will publish weekly updates on how the fall colors are progressing during the fall foliage season.

Best time to see foliage

Updated October 19, 2018

The Great North Woods is now past peak. This is a good time to just take in the scenery before the snow comes, as the North Woods is beautiful year-round. If you feel like a good hike, this is a great place to do it. Or, bring your ATV and hit up Jericho Mountain State Park with its many trails. You could ride all day! If you'd rather just wander, take Route 3 from Pittsburg to the Canadian border (known as "Moose Alley") and keep your eyes glued to the road looking for moose. Depending on the time of day, you may see deer too.
