New Hampshire is one of the best places in the world to witness the brilliant crimsons and golds of fall. To help visitors decide when to take a tour of the countryside, NewHampshire.com will publish weekly updates on how the fall colors are progressing during the fall foliage season.

Best time to see foliage?

The foliage peaks at different times in different parts of the state. Generally, the best times to view the fall colors are near the end of September in the far north, the beginning of October in the White Mountain region, and the middle of October in the south.

The Merrimack Valley is bursting with color as it reaches near peak conditions. This area, one of the last to turn, features a little fun around every corner.  And by fun we mean - it looks like a coloring book! Best drives this weekend include Route 13 from New Boston to Mont Vernon.  We also think it's important to hit the back roads here.
