New Hampshire is one of the best places in the world to witness the brilliant crimsons and golds of fall. To help visitors decide when to take a tour of the countryside, NewHampshire.com will publish weekly updates on how the fall colors are progressing during the fall foliage season.
Best time to see foliage?
The foliage peaks at different times in different parts of the state. Generally, the best times to view the fall colors are near the end of September in the far north, the beginning of October in the White Mountain region, and the middle of October in the south. Updated October 26, 2016 The Merrimack Valley still has some trees holding onto their colorful attire. But most of this area is now past peak. Check out Lake Massabesic and take a walk around the lake and you'll hear the crunch of the leaves beneath your feet. Smell autumn's brisk and fresh air -- as winter is just around the corner.
