New Hampshire is one of the best places in the world to witness the brilliant crimsons and golds of fall. To help visitors decide when to take a tour of the countryside, NewHampshire.com will publish weekly updates on how the fall colors are progressing during the fall foliage season.
When is foliage at its best?
The foliage peaks at different times in different parts of the state. Generally, the best times to view the fall colors are near the end of September in the far north, the beginning of October in the White Mountain region, and the middle of October in the south. Updated September 30, 2016 The White Mountain Region is now experiencing a blossom of color. The trees are really lighting up now with another week before peak foliage will be showing in some areas. Now that we are seeing near-freezing temperatures overnight, and warm days, the stage is set for an explosion of color - and soon!
