Agassiz Basin & Indian Leap

Location: N. Woodstock, NH
There are two footbridges here, one directly over the Agassiz Falls and the other below the upstream waterfall known as Indian Leap.
Directions: Beside Route 112, east of the junction of Routes 112 and 118

Ammonoosuc Falls - Lower

Height: Unknown
Water Source: Ammonoosuc River
Location: Carroll, NH
Directions: On old Cherry Mountain Road, off Rt. 302 between Twin Mountain and Fabyans. Take an immediate left (before railroad tracks) and park in the area at the end of this paved road. Walk down the dirt road at the end of the parking lot (about a .1 mile hike).

Ammonoosuc Falls - Upper

Height: Unknown
Water Source: Ammonoosuc River
Location: Carroll, NH
Directions: Route 302 and turn north on Base Road, leading to Marshfield and the Cog Railroad. Look on the right side of the road about 2.3 miles from the Route 302 intersection.

Appalachia Falls

Height: Varies
Water Source: Cold Brook & Snyder Brook
Location: Randolph, NH
Directions: 2.6 mile Valley Way loop trail includes Cold Brook Falls, Tama Fall, Salroc Falls, and Gordon Falls. Trail starts at Appalachia parking area off U.S. Route 2 about 1/2 mile west of Randolph.

Arethusa Falls, Bemis Brook Falls

Height: 176'
Water Source: Bemis Brook
Location: Livermore, NH
Arethusa may be your destination, but Bemis Brook and Coliseum Falls are a bonus: these two are along the way to Arethusa. They are an easy .5 mile hike in, while Arethusa is 1.3 miles in on a hike of moderate difficulty. Arethusa is best viewed from below. Do not try rock scrambling: the rocks are unsafe. If you wish to swim, choose spots downstream.
Directions: 1½ mile path south of Willey House site off Rt. 302 in Crawford Notch.

Artist Falls

Location: Conway, NH
Directions: Off Route 16 and 302 on Artist Falls Road.

Avalanche Falls, Liberty Gorge Cascade, The Pool

Height: 25'
Water Source: Flume Brook
Location: Lincoln, NH
Near the Flume Gorge, Franconia Notch. The Flume Gorge may be better known, but these cascades are well worth a visit. The most dramatic of the three is 45 ft. Expect to make an easy round trip hike of just over 2 miles, if you plan to see all three.

The Baby Flume

Water Source: Pemigewasset River
Location: Lincoln, NH
Directions: Located several miles downstream from the Basin. Take the marked trail south along the Pemigewasset River. The falls are found just before crossing a footbridge.

Baker River

Water Source: Baker River
Location: Warren, NH
Directions: Northeast of Warren within view of Rt. 118.

The Basin, Cascades, Kinsman Falls, Rocky Glen Falls

Height: Varies
Water Source: Pemigewasset River
Location: Lincoln, NH at Franconia Notch
Directions: North of the Flume, called "the Old Man's Foot Basin." The Basin is .1 mile from the parking lot. The Cascades is .2 mile from the starting point. Kinsman Falls is .5 mile from the parking lot. Rocky Glen Falls is over a mile from the starting point.

Bath Falls

Location: Bath, NH
The Bath Falls are scenically set against the Bath Covered Bridge.
Directions: Route 302 in Bath under the covered bridge.

Beaver Brook Cascade

Height: 1000'
Water Source: Beaver Brook
Location: Kinsman Notch, NH
Directions: Route 112 into Kinsman Notch. Pull into the hiker's parking lot. Follow the signs to the trail.

Beebe River Falls

Directions: Route 175 in Campton

Beecher's and Pearl Cascades

Height: 20'
Water Source: Crawford Brook
Location: Carroll, NH
Directions: Park behind the Crawford Depot on Route 302 and follow the signs on the Avalon Trail.

Brickett Falls

Height: 30'
Water Source: Mill Brook
Location: Chatham, NH
Directions: Route 113 to North Chatham. Just north of North Chatham, look on the west side of the road for the Mount Meader Trail. The falls are a little over a mile up the trail.

Bridal Veil Falls

Height: 80'
Water Source: Coppermine Brook
Location: Franconia, NH
Directions: Coppermine Trail off of Route 116 near Easton

Campton Falls

Height: 15'
Water Source: Beebe River
Location: Campton, NH
Directions: Take Exit 27 off I-93N to Blair Road. Turn left onto Route 175 at stop sign. Pull over after the place where Beede River passes under a bridge.

Cascade Brook Falls

Height: 200'
Water Source: Cascade Brook
Location: Lincoln, NH
Directions: Route 93 North into Franconia Notch. Look for the Basin parking area and park here. Take the marked trail up Cascade Brook.

Cold Brook Falls

Height: 20'
Water Source: Cold Brook
Location: Randolph, NH
Directions: Route 2 in Randolph to a large trailhead parking lot on the south side of the road. Follow the Amphibrach Trail to the Cold Brook Crossing. The falls are about 100' upstream.

Coosauk, Hitchcock, and Stairs Falls

Height: 15'
Water Source: Bumpus Brook
Location: Randolph, NH
Directions: Falls can be reached by following the Sylvan Trail toward Bumpus Brook. Trail starts at Appalachia parking area off of U.S. Route 2 about 1/2 mile west of Randolph.

Crystal Cascade

Dryad and Giant Falls

Directions: Park in the lot adjacent to the Austin Mill Brook Bridge off North Road in Shelburne. Take marked trail to the upper portion of Dryad or follow the Peabody Brook trail to Giant Falls.

Falling Waters Trail

Location: Lincoln, NH
Directions: Opposite Lafayette Campground in Franconia Notch. A favorite hike, 1.4 miles one way, that takes you to Walker Cascade, 20 ft. Stairs Falls, 60 ft. Swiftwater Falls and 80 ft. Cloudland Falls.

Flume Cascade and Silver Cascade

Height: 420' and 640'

Location: Harts Location, NH
The Silver Cascade is one of the most dramatic waterfalls in the state during high water, when the falls spread out over a substantial width of ledge. In drier times, the falls slow to a trickle.

Directions: Beside Route 3 in Franconia Notch, 5 miles North of Lincoln.

Directions: Route 112 East from Lincoln for 4.7 miles.

Georgiana and Harvard Falls

Location: Lincoln, NH
Directions: Located on Harvard Brook in Lincoln. Set of two falls, approximately 1/2 mile apart along the same trail.

Gibbs Falls

Directions: Follow Crawford Path which is located across Route 302 from Crawford Depot.

Directions: Located on the Ellis River. The falls are below the Route 16 bridge in Jackson. Pull off onto side roads before or after the river to search for the best view.

Hermit Falls

Jackson Falls

Location: Jackson, NH
Directions: Center of Jackson Village beside Carter Notch Road.

Livermore Falls

Location: Campton, NH
Directions: Located off Route 3, 2.5 miles northeast of Plymouth.

Mossy Glen

Height: 40'
Water Source: Carlton Brook
Location: Randolph, NH
Directions: Located near Route 2 on Carlton Brook in Randolph.

Nancy Cascade

Height: 360'
A rather rigorous hike is required to view these falls, but the trek is worth it. The falls are named for a servant woman who perished trying to reach her fiance's camp in the White Mountains one winter. The falls, which are quite spectacular, plunge into a deep pool below.

Directions: The Nancy Pond Trail starts off Rt. 302, south of Crawford Notch. The 2.4 mile hike in, which is of moderate difficulty, brings you to a series of lovely cascades that are shady and cool.

Paradise Falls and Falls of Prosperine at Lost River

Location: North Woodstock, NH
Directions: Kinsman Notch, 7 miles west of North Woodstock on Route 112. Falls of Prosperine located underground in the Judgment Hall of Pluto.

Pond Brook Falls

Height: 75'
These falls are rather remote, but the water streaming over smooth rocks is a sight.

Directions: Located in the Nash Stream Forest just off of Nash Stream Road. Part of the Cohos Trail.

Raymond Cascade

Location: Sargeant's Purchase, NH
Directions: Located between Tuckerman's and Huntington Ravines.

Ripley Falls and Kendron Flume

Height: 108'

Location: Harts Location, NH
Directions: On Route 302, Crawford Notch, take Ethan Pond Trail.

Swiftwater Falls

Height: 12' and 60'
There are two falls by this name. The first one is located in Bath, beneath the Swiftwater Bridge. The other waterfall is much larger. Located in Lincoln, it can be found on the popular Falling Waters Trail in Franconia Notch.

Directions: One is located on Route 112 just south of the Junctions of 112 and 302 near Bath; the other is part of the Falling Waters Trail.

13 Falls

Named for an old logging camp, number 13.

Location: Franconia, NH
Directions: Located in the Pemigewasset Wilderness in the valley between Owl's Head and the Garfield/Galehead Ridge. Take the Kancamagus Highway and travel east of Lincoln, turn into parking lot.

Thompson's Falls and Emerald Pool

Location: Pinkham's Grant, NH
Directions: 1 1/2 miles south of Pinkham Notch Camp

Thoreau Falls

Height: 80'
Water Source: Pemigewasset River
Location: Bethlehem, NH
Directions: Part of the Appalachian Trail. From Route 302, turn onto Zealand Road. Trail starts at end of road.

Waterville Cascade

Location: Waterville, NH
Directions: The 1.2 mile trail to the falls is near Snow's Mountain ski lift in Waterville Valley.

Winneweta Falls

Location: Jackson, NH
Directions: Located off Route 16 just north of Jackson Village. Park in the dirt turnoff, cross the Ellis River and walk across a meadow to find the marked trail.

Zealand Falls

Directions: Part of the Appalachian Trail. From Route 302, turn onto Zealand Road. Trail starts at the end of the road.
