CONCORD - Award-winning children's book author and illustrator Tomie dePaola will present his newest book, "Quiet," during a visit to Gibson's Bookstore at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.

The picture book, which is coming out Oct. 9, is about mindfulness and stillness, teaching a lesson on enjoying quiet company.

His visit will involve a chat, book signing and a Q&A, so children and adults are welcome to bring questions for the legendary author/illustrator.

DePaola, who lives in New London, has written or illustrated more than 260 books, including several featuring his famous character Strega Nona. Nearly 25 million copies of his books have sold worldwide.

His recognitions include the Caldecott Honor Award for "Strega Nona," the Newbery Honor Award for "26 Fairmount Avenue" and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award (now known as the Children's Literature Legacy Award) for "substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children."

Anyone who can't make the event may call the bookstore, located at 45 S. Main St., at 224-0562 or email to request a signed book be set aside.
