Portion of Bedford's Back River Road closed

BEDFORD — A portion of Back River Road will be closed until Sept. 7 for ongoing water main work.

Local traffic will be redirected to avoid the construction zones and drivers are asked to seek alternate routes.

Back River Road is now closed from County Road to Smith Road, and will only be accessible to emergency vehicles and school buses between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays, according to a release.

“We want to thank everyone for their patience while this project is completed. More than 7,000 vehicles drive on this road each day, so we want everyone to be aware of the project and the detour routes to help make things as easy as possible,” Police Chief John Bryfonski said in a statement.
