Paradis qualifies for U.S. Amateur

Hooksett's Matt Paradis continued his hot play on Monday, shooting a two-round total of 143 to qualify for the U.S. Amateur Championship next month.

Paradis, who plays out of Concord Country Club, won the NHGA State Amateur last week.

On Monday at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass., the 22-year-old fashioned rounds of 69 and 74 on the par-72 layout to finish as the third and final qualifier. His 143 total trailed only Will Kannegieser (72-65-137) of Minot, Maine, and Sam Goldenring (71-68-139) of Florham Park, N.J.

The U.S. Amateur is set for Aug. 13-19 at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif.

Just missing the cut was Hanover's Nate Choukas, who finished at 144 after rounds of 75 and 69, Bedford's Ryan Tombs (77-68-145) and Concord's James Sokul (77-69-146).
