WEARE — A Winchester man was injured Sunday while biking on a trail, the New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game said.

Daniel Van Kalken, 31, was riding with friends on the Bassett Mill Loop Trail in the Hopkinton Everett Riding Area when he lost control of his bike and crashed Sunday morning, Fish and Game said in a release.

Van Kalken’s friends administered first aid and called 911, Fish and Game said.

Fish and Game conservation officers, personnel from Weare’s fire and police departments, Dunbarton police and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers worked to get Van Kalken out of the trail system and taken to Concord Hospital, Fish and Game said.

Van Kalken was wearing a helmet and appropriate riding gear, the release said.

He was also riding with friends, which Fish and Game said is very important while off-road biking.
