Newport community creates huge display on library lawnJuly 11. 2018 2:17PM
A lesson in community building has led to a whole school of fish.
More than 70 community members came together at the Newport Farmers’ Market one day last month to create a display of painted, wooden fish. The resulting “Fish Sticks” can be seen on the lawn of the Richards Free Library in Newport.
This is the first community arts project of the summer facilitated by the Library Arts Center, with the partnership of SAU 43, the Newport Farmer’s Market and the Richards Free Library.
This sculpture was the idea of Newport artist Chris Scott, and the fish were painted by community members of all ages June 22.
