CHESTERFIELD — A Connecticut man is facing felony charges in New Hampshire and Connecticut after police said he was tracked to the Nutmeg State after being involved in an accident that injured a motorcyclist on Route 9 Tuesday.
Christopher Smith, 29, of Uncasville, Conn., was tracked and arrested in Thomaston, Conn., after police said he drove a 2016 International Digger pickup truck out of the Shell gas station parking lot about noon into the path of a 2008 Harley-Davidson driven by Dallis Spicer, 38, of Westminster, Vt., then left the scene of the crash.
Spicer was taken to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in Vermont where he was treated for his injuries and released, police said.
According to a police news release, a person who witnessed the accident followed Smith’s truck, which first headed east on Route 9 before turning around, driving past the accident scene and heading west into Vermont.
He was arrested in Thomaston on a felony conduct after an accident charge related to the New Hampshire crash, as well as additional felonies in Connecticut, police said, where he was being held on $100,000 bail.
