The sale benefits the club’s scholarship to Seacoast School of Technology seniors.

Also Saturday, the club’s sister club, Exeter Area GFWC, plans a book sale and baked goods sale at the same time in the hall’s adjoining room.

Both clubs are part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international volunteer organization. For more information, call 778-1287.

Sandown Garden Club’s plant swap set for Monday

SANDOWN — Many gardeners have an abundance of plants in their gardens that need to be divided or removed. One way to recycle the plants is to share them with others at a plant swap.

The Sandown Garden Club will host its annual plant swap at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Recreation Center on Pheasant Run Drive. The public is invited to participate.

Anyone interested may bring up to three plants, such as perennials, herbs or small bushes, and exchange them for an equal number. Plants should be in sturdy pots or containers, healthy, well-cared for and garden-worthy. They need to be identified and have some care information included. Annuals, invasive or diseased plants are not eligible.

Light refreshments will be served during the setup, giving everyone a chance to look over the plants and ask questions. The swap is also a time to share gardening ideas and advice.

It’s not necessary to be from Sandown to join the club, which belongs to both the N.H. Federation of Garden Clubs and National Garden Clubs. Membership information can be found at www.sandowngardenclub.org. To contact the club, email info@sandowngardenclub.org.

Plant sale, raffle to benefit Manchester Animal Shelter

MANCHESTER — The Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter will host its 12th annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the shelter, 490 Dunbarton Road.

Garden lovers will find a variety of perennials, annuals, herbs, vegetables, houseplants and small shrubs for sale.

The event also will feature a raffle of items donated by local garden clubs, businesses and community members as well as a sale of birdhouses handcrafted by the Hillside Junior High School Builders Club.

The shelter is looking for volunteers to help before or during the sale. Anyone interested should email the shelter at events@manchesteranimalshelter.org.

The plant sale supports the nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter’s mission, which is to provide food, shelter and medical care to the stray and abandoned animals of Manchester.

If the weather is severe, the sale will move to Sunday. For more details, visit manchesteranimalshelter.org/events.
