Hinsdale ATV rider seriously hurt in Winchester crash

May 24. 2018 11:14PM

WINCHESTER — Fish and Game officials said the fact a Hinsdale man was wearing a helmet likely saved his life when he suffered serious injuries after crashing his all-terrain vehicle in Pisgah State Park in Winchester Wednesday night.

After the accident at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Raymond LaBlanc, 40, was transported by helicopter to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.

Officials said LaBlanc was traveling south on Old Chesterfield Road when his front suspension failed, causing him to be thrown from the ATV.

Excessive speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, officials said.

The accident remains under investigation, Fish and Game officials said.
