Hawks get lax wins

Erica Mattilla scored four goals and Meghan Sheehy notched the winner with 7:46 to go as St. Anselm beat Assumption 12-11 in women's lacrosse Saturday in Goffstown.

Anthony Busconi fired home four goals for St. Anselm in a 14-8 men's lacrosse win over Bentley on Saturday. Senior Ryan Hesseltine picked up three goals and three assists.

SNHU baseball splits

Jake Stearns struck out a career-high 14 in an eight-inning, four-hit shutout, as the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team salvaged Saturday's doubleheader against Stonehill with an 8-0 shutout in game two at Penmen Field. The Skyhawks rallied from a seven-run deficit in the first game to steal an 8-7 win.

SNHU softball sweeps

Tammy Lavallee of Candia gave up five hits in SNHU's 3-1 win in the opener of a doubleheader sweep over Bentley on Saturday in Manchester. Emily Critch won it for SNHU with a two-run walk-off homer in the seventh.

SNHU won the nightcap 6-4, as Brittany Perdigan, Coralie Mathieu and Jackie Gavin of Laconia each rapped three hits.

PSU laxers win

Senior Megan Tingley scored four goals and notched two assists and sophomore Sydney Dubois of Goffstown recorded a third-straight hat trick as Plymouth State held off Eastern Connecticut State, 14-11, in women's lacrosse Saturday.

Drew Lederer finished with a career-high four goals, while Griffin Jacobson notched his second hat trick of the season to keep Plymouth State unbeaten in LEC men's play with a 10-9 win at UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday.

Dartmouth lax splits

Ellie Carson had five goals as Dartmouth beat Cornell, 19-10, in Ithaca, N.Y., in women's lacrosse Saturday. Katie Bourque and Kierra Sweeney each added four.

Jack Korzelius and Liam O'Connell had two goals and an assist each as Dartmouth fell to Princeton 24-13 in men's lacrosse play Saturday in Princeton, N.J.

Colby-Sawyer splits

Colby-Sawyer split a baseball doubeleader with Husson on Saturday. Each game ended 2-1.

The Chargers scored twice in the seventh inning of the opener to win, Tim Unczur's single scored Drew Inglesi for the winning run.

Keene's Joey Fenuccio had the lone RBI for Colby-Sawyer in its loss in the nightcap.Big Green sweep

Dartmouth beat Cornell 8-4 and 7-2 in a softball twinbill Saturday.

The Big Green slugged four straight homers in the opener as Micah Schroeder, Morgan Martinelli, Schae Nelson and Taylor Ward went deep in the third. Breanna Ethridge went five innings for the win. Tatyanah Castillo and Martinelli doubled home two apiece in Game 2.

Owls men, women win

Taylor Farland scored seven goals and Londonderry's Chelsea Lewis had five assists in Keene State's 19-8 women's lacrosse win over UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday. The Keene State men beat Salem State 20-3. Hunter Arnold scored five goals, and Jon Nassif added four.

Ravens split pair

Cyrena Zemaitis pitched a complete game shutout in Franklin Pierce's 1-0 win over Stonehill in Game one of a doubleheader on Saturday in Rindge. Stonehill won the nightcap, 6-4

SNHU men beaten

Corey Cairo scored twice and added two assists on Saturday, but Franklin Pierce beat Southern New Hampshire University 12-10 in men's lacrosse play Saturday in Rindge.

Devin Calkins of Bow added a pair of goals and a helper.

Sean Delea of Hampstead had three goals and an assist for the Ravens. Nevin Kriger scored four goals.
