ARE, Sweden -- A month after her double-medal performance at the Winter Olympics, Mikaela Shiffrin ended her best World Cup season with a championship.

Shiffrin closed out her season with a win in Saturday’s slalom at the World Cup finals, finishing in 1:46.42, more than a second and a half ahead of second-place finisher Wendy Holdener of Switzerland.

Shiffrin, who grew up in Lyme, had 12 wins this season, which is two short of the record.
