MANCHESTER - A police cruiser was heavily damaged early Monday when a distracted driver crashed into it on Kelley Street, police said.

Officer Robert Megowen had just gotten out of the cruiser at 165 Kelley St. at 1:10 a.m. and was headed into the West Side substation when his cruiser was hit by a Volvo driven by Keisha Forbus, 40, according to a release.

Forbus, and a police dog inside the cruiser was not injured, police said. Both the cruiser and Forbus' car were heavily damaged and were towed, police said.

Police said Forbus was distracted and lost control of her car while looking for an item inside. She was not charged, police said.
