UNH, Maine skate to tie for second straight night

Charlie Kelleher's goal midway through the third period lifted the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team to a 3-3 tie with Maine in Orono, Maine, on Saturday night. The Wildcats and Black Bears also skated to a tie (2-2) on Friday night.

Kelleher assisted on UNH's other two goals: by Ara Nazarian at 3:53 of the first period, and Richard Boyd at 12:30 of the second.

Ryan Smith, Canon Pieper and Chase Pearson scored for Maine.

Danny Tirone made 33 saves for UNH. Jeremy Swayman stopped 27 shots for Maine.

UNH is 4-7-2 in Hockey East, 9-11-3 overall, and tied for ninth in the conference. Next weekend the Wildcats will take on Connecticut twice: Friday at the Whittemore Center in Durham and Saturday at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Conn.
