Ice Castles NH this week hosted a ticket giveaway contest on its Facebook page. Entrants had to answer this question: How much does the average ice castle weigh? The winner will get two passes to the Lincoln attraction plus a $25 gift certificate to Rustic River Restaurant in North Woodstock.

LINCOLN — Ice Castles NH has set its opening date for Friday, weather permitting.

Event organizers said the winter wonderland extends more than an acre and features 79 turrets, archways, tunnels, a tandem ice slide and waterfalls, all lit up with colored LED lights.

Fire performances featuring fire breathing, spinning and hula are set to run between 7:15 and 10:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Tickets online at are $13.95 for ages 12 and older and $9.95 for children 4 to 11. Walkup/standby tickets are $21 and $16, respectively. In addition, parking is $7 to $10.

For easier viewing and navigation through the Ice Castles on Railroad Street, guests are asked to wear boots, take pictures but leave tripods and lights at home, and bring sleds rather than strollers to pull children through the attraction.
