Kiwanis Club focuses on children during holidays

MANCHESTER — The Kiwanis Club of Manchester celebrates and supports children year-round, with a special focus on the holiday season and assisting the families of the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester.

“Walk With A Child” and “Celebrate With A Child” are two annual events that help make Christmas brighter for these children, the club said.

Club member Corri Wilson said 28 children and their families participated in “Celebrate With A Child.” “The children enjoyed a morning of crafts and gift shopping, followed by a pizza lunch and meeting with Santa,” she said.

Member A. Robert Dionne said, “Walk With A Child is an amazing yearly event that not only provides much needed warm clothing for kids in need, but also serves as a highlight for the Kiwanians and college students that get to shop with them - a win-win all around!”

The Manchester club, chartered in 1921, was the first Kiwanis Club in the state. The volunteer-run nonprofit organization is open to men and women interested in helping to improve the quality of life in Manchester, particularly the lives of the city’s children and youth. The club does this through community service projects, fundraising, scholarships and by partnering with area schools and organizations. For more information, go to kiwanismanchesternh.org.
