High School Roundup: Timberlane wrestler makes top 8

Timberlane of Plaistow wrestler Connor McGonagle won two matches by pin on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Beast of the East wrestling tournament in Wilmington, Del.

The meet, which features 106 top high school wrestling programs from all over the country, wraps up today with the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.

McGonagle, ranked fourth in the 132-pound weight class, pinned Derek Shockey of Virginia in 3 minutes, 9 seconds, and Rashad Stratton of Delaware in 2:43 to make today's matches. His quarterfinal opponent will be fifth-ranked Andrew West of Harrisburg, Pa.

Three other Owls wrestlers advanced to the final 16 in their weight classes: Dylan Musgrave at 145, Justin Berube at 160 and Dylan Tremblay ay 182.

Boys' hockey

Goffstown 6, Lebanon-Stevens 4: At Goffstown, Noah Charron scored twice and added an assist, and Max Lajeunesse had a goal and two assists for 2-0 Goffstown. Brett Branscum, Grady Chretien and Sebastian Beal also scored for the Grizzlies. Nate Chickering scored two goals and had an assist for Lebanon (0-2). Ethan Daly and Ian Garland also scored.

St. Thomas 4, Merrimack 1: At Dover, freshman Dominic Carozza scored his first high school goal and Greg Amato made 34 saves for Merrimack. Chris Eno stopped 26 shots for St. Thomas.

Londonderry 8, Memorial 2: Anthony Federico had a hat trick and an assist as the Lancers downed the Crusaders at JFK Coliseum. Londonderry goalie Cam Donovan stopped 25 shots; Memorial goalie Chuck Dugust recorded 27 saves.

Cody Boyce and Jared Chandonnet scored for Memorial.

Girls' hockey

Exeter 7, Concord 0: At Concord, Carissa Towlson scored five goals and Ashley Keaveney contributed four assists for Exeter.

Meredith Madden and Abby Cooper also scored for Exeter, which got 12 saves from Izzy Day. Abby Corbett made 24 saves for Concord.
