PORTSMOUTH — Global Relief Technologies will be presented with a Supplier Excellence Program EPIC Award from Raytheon on Monday morning.
The 10-person firm developed the software for Rapid Aerostat Initial Deployment Systems, which provide a 360-degree field of view to protect troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The company provides logistical support and maintenance for the program, according to GRT CEO Alex Sorokin.
GRT is one of 22 companies chosen by Raytheon for the EPIC Award. A total of 33 suppliers were recognized for their supporting programs by officials at the defense company.
“It’s an incredible accomplishment for a company of this size to be recognized,” Sorokin said Thursday.
Sorokin said half of his staff members were educated in New Hampshire universities and colleges.
“I think that speaks volumes about the quality of our training and education at our universities,” he said.
In June, when Raytheon announced the award winners, David Wilkins, vice president of contracts and supply chain, offered his perspective.
“As we continue to evolve and advance relationships with our suppliers, it is critical that we recognize those partners whose commitment and customer focus is lockstep with our own,” Wilkins said in a statement. “The Supplier Excellence Program Awards acknowledge the suppliers who share our vision of customer success through trusted, innovative solutions.”
During Monday’s event, Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-NH, will be speaking.
“Global Relief Technologies is an innovative small business that is helping to drive economic growth in New Hampshire while working to strengthen our national security and humanitarian efforts abroad,” Hassan said Thursday. “Small businesses like Global Relief Technologies are the backbone of our economy in the Granite State, and I will keep working to ensure that our innovative small businesses have the support they need to thrive.”
Sorokin said that in addition to working on security for troops overseas, the company is known for providing services for humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross.
GRT is located on Pease International Tradeport.
