SANDOWN — Sandown Garden Club members met on a recent Saturday morning for their annual holiday workshop.

They brought freshly gathered evergreen boughs, cedar, juniper and holly branches to create wreaths and swags that were then decorated with brightly colored balls, pine cones and ribbons. After the workshop, the club said, “the members scattered about town like happy little elves to adorn various civic locations with their holiday creations. “

The nonprofit club is a member of both the New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs and National Garden Clubs. For more information, visit www.sandowngardenclub.org.

Plymouth Rotary receives Allstate Foundation grant

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Rotary Club recently received an Allstate “Good Hands” grant award thanks to Sharon Thorne, past president and current club treasurer. Allstate offers grant awards in honor of its agents for their personal involvement in their community.

The club says Thorne, who owns the Allstate business at 56 Main St. in Plymouth, has served the club in multiple capacities and has been involved in almost every aspect of the club’s community service in the Plymouth area.

“Sharon has shown a passion for ‘Service Above Self’ — Rotary International’s motto. The Plymouth Rotarians are grateful for Sharon’s ongoing support and are proud to say that she is a dedicated member of their club,” the Rotary Club wrote in a news release.
