December 13. 2017 12:11AM

Haleigh Shea led all scorers with 18 points, but teammate Ilyanna Vega was another reason why the Manchester Memorial girls’ basketball team beat host Merrimack on Tuesday night. Vega scored all eight of her points in the first quarter and contributed solid defense and rebounding to get the Crusaders off to a fast start en route to a 69-59 Division I win.

Mollie Simpson and Mel Presseau added 11 points apiece for Memorial (2-0).

Sara Wozniak and Sabrina Johnson led the Tomahawks (1-1) with 14 points apiece.

Windham 80, Manchester West 21: In Windham, the Jaguars won their Division II opener in convincing fashion. Junior Sam Adamson led the way with 17 points, followed by freshman Sarah Dempsey (12) and junior Ali Schiebel (11). Lilly Frost led West (0-2) with five points.

Nashua North 37, Londonderry 36 (OT): In Nashua, the Titans (1-1) outlasted the Lancers (0-2) in overtime with a 4-3 edge in the extra period. Danielle Upton scored 13 for North, which had Londonderry on its hip all night. The Lancers forced overtime when Delaney McGurn (seven points) hit a game-tying trey with four seconds to play. Courtney Shay, who scored a game-high 15 points, also hit a big 3-pointer before McGurn’s crucial bucket.
