High School Roundup: Central runs past Salem

Manchester Central outscored Salem 20-8 in the fourth quarter to beat Salem 44-41 on Friday night in the Division I girls’ basketball season opener for both.

Central was lead by Shae Rix with 14 points and Keltina Francis with 12. Salem was lead by Jordyn Franzen, who scored 14 points.

Bedford 71, Trinity 26: In Manchester, all 11 players scored for Bedford, which was led by Alli Morgan with 12 points and Lizzy Stevenson with 11. Jackie Attar scored 10 for Trinity.

Pelham 53, Kearsarge 31: In North Sutton, Danielle Sirois led the Pythons with 16 points and Olivia Gagnon chipped in 11. Pelham started on the right foot with a 12-0 lead after one quarter while holding the Cougars under 10 points in three of four quarters. Jackie DeAngelis finished with eight points for Kearsrage.

Hollis/Brookline 65, Goffstown 56: In Hollis, Joanna Balsamo’s 27 points propelled the Cavaliers, who traded leads with the Grizzlies as late as the fourth quarter. Brodie Kelley added 19 for the winners. Goffstown, which overcame an 18-4 start by Hollis/Brookline, got 15 from Livvy Brannen and 14 from Kelly Walsh.

Souhegan 67, Manchester West 21: In Amherst, Abuk Teng and Aliyah Norman registered nine and five points for West.

Winnacunnet 40, Alvirne 17: In Hudson, the Warriors, who led 24-12 at halftime, got seven points apiece from Hannah Driscoll, Leah Orzechowski and Christina Kahigian. Grace Hodgdon posted seven points for Alvirne.

Littleton 55, Newmarket 25: In Newmarket, the Crusaders scored at least 12 points in each quarter to turn back the mules. Laney Hadlock scored 23 of Littleton’s 55 while Reagan Jordan finished with 12 for Newmarket.

Boys’ basketball

Derryfield 61, Profile 32: In Bethlehem, the Cougars cruised past the Patriots after leading 30-15 at halftime. Oliver Sattler scored 11 points and was one of four Derryfield scorers in double figures.

Belmont 50, Gilford 40: Matt Pluskis’ 14 points aided the Red Raiders in knocking off the Golden Eagles. Gilford received 11 points from Nate Hudson.
