State lab testing large bone dragged home by Portsmouth dog

November 30. 2017 7:26PM

PORTSMOUTH — Police in Portsmouth are hoping the state lab can identify a large bone that was dragged home by a resident’s dog last week.

Sgt. Christopher Roth said Thursday that they believe the bone belongs to an animal, but it was sent for testing to confirm its origin.

The bone was reported to police by a resident on Kearsarge Way Nov. 23. The person told police their dog was in the woods and brought what appeared to be a human leg bone home at about 8:30 p.m.

Roth said the detective division is handling the matter. Anyone with information can call Portsmouth police at 427-1500.
