PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Historical Society’s 27th annual Gingerbread House Exhibit opens Friday at Discover Portsmouth, 10 Middle St., as part of the kickoff to this year’s Vintage Christmas celebration in Portsmouth from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
This year’s exhibit will remain on view through Dec. 23 in the first-floor gallery. Exhibit hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with extended hours this weekend on both Friday and Saturday until 8 p.m. There is no admission fee.
Created by local businesses, artists, families and children, the gingerbread houses will be nestled into a winter wonderland surrounded by large-format photographs, including David J. Murray’s images of Vintage Christmas in Portsmouth and photographs of trains in New Hampshire winters by Andy Dolph.
While jurors’ selections for top honors will be revealed Friday night, the public can cast votes for favorite gingerbread house until Friday, Dec. 15. The People’s Choice Award will be announced at noon Monday, Dec. 18.
